Wifirockstars is sponsoring WiFi for potentially 25,000 Echelon Festival visitors
From August 19th On August 20, 2016, the largest open air & indoor festival in southern Germany took place in Bad Aibling. Over 50 national and international acts got the Echelon festival visitors in the party mood. What often remains organizationally and logistically hidden from visitors behind the scenes is a lot of work down to the last detail. wifirockstars, as the currently leading service provider in Germany for temporary installations of wireless networks at major events, provided free WiFi for visitors.
The Mission Echelon 2016 – Wi-Fi for music festivals
The entire 1TP17 project “WLAN for Echelon 2016” was subject to quick and short-term planning, coordination and implementation. Within a few hours, a completely temporary and very powerful wireless network, including the entire infrastructure such as routers, switches, etc., was deployed for the various areas (festival office, ticketing and the wifirockstars stand) around the site. The stand itself was networked with an almost 700 meter long radio link. This involved the installation of high-performance arrays to cover a large area.
Enthusiasm! We don't leave any fan out in the cold! Despite heavy rain showers on Saturday, our small tent was the most sought-after place!
Our digital photo box was a hit at the wifirockstars stand. In total, there were around 270 pictures that were liked, shared or commented on by fans.
Increasing the involvement of visitors at the stand
Over the almost one and a half day festival, over 1,800 visitors logged in via the free WiFi provided. The goal was to extend the event digitally throughout the festival. In order to activate visitors, there was a special highlight in addition to the free WiFi: with a photo box at the stand, even more people came to us and took advantage of the opportunity to capture their most beautiful moments. The image collages produced were posted in an album on the wifirockstars Facebook page. During the event and afterwards, visitors were able to like, comment, share and download the images for free.
