The federal government has just made an additional €500 million available for devices such as tablets and notebooks for students. A shift model that alternates between in-school attendance and working from home on a weekly basis also presents new challenges.
But what will happen to the newly acquired devices when normal or shift-based classes resume at school? At the few schools that have already installed a halfway functioning Wi-Fi network, overworked teachers will find themselves in the following scenarios:

A few access points are simply connected to the existing network in a matter of minutes. "The more, the better, for good coverage," is the bold promise. Automatic channel matching and mutual transmission power adjustment are no magic cure for Wi-Fi. While these features are part of the offerings of almost every current Wi-Fi manufacturer, they are only one part of a complex concept for a permanently reliable and, above all, secure Wi-Fi environment.
