Wifirockstars sponsors Wi-Fi for potentially 25,000 Echelon Festival visitors

From August 19th to 20th, 2016, the largest open-air and indoor festival in southern Germany took place in Bad Aibling. Over 50 national and international acts got the Echelon festivalgoers in the party mood. What often remains hidden from visitors in terms of organization and logistics is a lot of work down to the last detail. wifirockstars, currently Germany's leading service provider for temporary wireless network installations at large events, provided free Wi-Fi for attendees.

Mission Echelon 2016 - Wi-Fi for Music Festivals

The entire "Wi-Fi for Echelon 2016" project required rapid planning, coordination, and implementation at short notice. Within a few hours, a completely temporary and highly efficient wireless network, including the entire infrastructure such as routers, switches, etc., was deployed for the various areas (festival office, ticketing, and the wifirockstars booth) around the site. The booth itself was networked via a nearly 700-meter-long microwave link. High-performance arrays were installed here to cover a large area.

Enthusiasm! We won't leave any fan out in the cold! Despite heavy rain on Saturday, our small tent was the most popular spot!

Our digital photo booth was a hit at the wifirockstars booth. A total of around 270 photos were collected, which were liked, shared, or commented on by fans.

Increasing visitor involvement at the stand

Over the nearly one-and-a-half days of the festival, over 1,800 visitors logged on using the free Wi-Fi. The goal was to extend the digital connection beyond the festival itself. To engage visitors, in addition to the free Wi-Fi, we had a special highlight: a photo booth at the booth attracted even more people, allowing them to capture their best moments. The resulting photo collages were posted in an album on the wifirockstars Facebook page. During and after the event, visitors could like, comment on, share, and download the images for free.
